Shakespeare Santa Cruz Internship Program 2008

Marco Barricelli, Artistic Director, Marcus Cato, Managing Director

Shakespeare Santa Cruz offers internships in two areas: artistic and production. As an intern, you will have a direct link with top theatre professionals, exposure to the latest skills and techniques in your field, professional theatre experience on your resume, and an inside advantage for marketing your new skills.

Artistic

Deadline for application: February 29, 2008 - DEADLINE HAS PASSED

The Acting Internship is comprised of the UCSC Summer Session course Acting Shakespeare (course fees paid by SSC), performance as an ensemble member of one or more SSC summer festival play, a backstage production work assignment, an understudy assignment, and performance in the Fringe Festival in August.  The Fringe Festival is a full-length play and fully-produced show featuring all of the acting interns, with technical design and stage management by production interns.  The Fringe Festival is an integral part of SSC's season. The Fringe Festival performs on two Monday nights on the outdoor Festival Glen stage in August.

Auditions for the summer Acting Internship program will be held at UCSC on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the UCSC Theater Arts Center. Out-of-town applicants should contact Sara Wilbourne (srwilbou@ucsc.edu) to arrange auditions in the New York and Los Angeles areas or should submit an audition videotape.  Once accepted, all acting interns will receive an equal opportunity to audition for ensemble and understudy roles during the first week of rehearsals.

The Directing/Dramaturgy Internships consist of an apprenticeship to one of the Festival directors/dramaturgs, and hands-on experience with the Company. Interns may apply to work on the Fringe Festival in August.
